Full of black UFO’s, no head, reddish-flamed black beer that pours as oil. Black chocolate, chocolate malts, tad of liquorice, faint alcohol, higher alcohols in the nose. Sweet-bitter; typical British strong old ale, where the yeast has given up. Tad of spruce flavour makes the bitterness piney, but always with a sweet undercurrent. Oily, viscous MF. A typical example, I said, where the yeast has more nourishment than it can cope with, but more than enjoyable! Many thanks to podge and FilipG!
