Deep amber coloured winter beer formerly made by Du Bocq for a Dutch commissioner; tasted at Essen’s Kerstbierfestival in 2004. Sweet candied fruits, spicy notes, smooth and soft mouthfeel, sourish touch, caramelly malts, some warming alcohol in the finish. This actually was one of the best Du Bocq beers I ever tasted - not that this means a great deal.

Hazy brown - amber; little or no head. Woody, dark malts, underlying chocolate aroma. Taste: Strawberry??! Where does that come from? Wood (perfumed wood, like sandalwood), and vanilla, woody again. Medium bodied; slick, peachy, velvety texture. Probably one of the best by Du Bocq. now that’s not that difficult, but this is really good.
