Desire coupled with curiosity can drive you to do many foolish things. Fortunately, opening a bottle of our Pandora’s Bock is not one of them. Once it is released, a wealth of flavor and complexity will spill out into the world. With a traditional bock flavor profile and a hint of hoppy goodness, there’s a reason it’s spoken about in mythical terms.

Draught@RNH. Clear amber color, small off-white head. Barley, fruit sugary aroma. Light bodied. Really watery for this ABV. Light sweetish flavor, honey, green apple, short harsh finish. Quite far from the normal bock.

Location: 12 oz bottle from Giannone, 11/10/13

Aroma: The aroma is fairly sweet, caramel, brown sugar, some molasses, and earth
Appearance: It pours a dark reddish color with a long last beige head and lots of lace
Flavor: The flavor is medium-heavy sweet, quite malty, a little roasty, and a very mild hop
Palate: The body is light-medium, feels a touch watery and a little cloying, with a short finish
Overall Impression: It's a little thin and a little too sweet overall. Not terrible, just not a well-rounded offering. Lacks balance.

12 oz. bottle purchased @ The Beer Store, Nashua, NH. Color was a deep brown with red highlights when held to the light. Nose is malt sweetness. Ordinary. One main flavor is caramel malt. The body is light with a thin, watery texture and a bland finish. This brewery needs to step this brew up. Really plain.

On tap at Petrol Station. Pours a cloudy amber with paperthin head that diminishes to nothing. The aroma is bready malt and raisin. Thin mouthfeel with a strong metallic and bready malt with sweet finish. A decent dunkler bock from Breckenridge.

Argonaut, DC tap ($6): Pours an amber colour (wouldn’t have been able to tell that this is a dunkler... looked closer to a heller) with a creamy head. Aroma is light bock (bubblegum/toffee) with some caramel malts. Taste is much the same. This was much later than I would have had expected. There really isn’t a huge amount of taste. There is, however, good alcohol coverage. I would even call this sessionable. Simple, but not great.

12 ounce bottle from Whole Foods Market Fair Lakes/Fairfax. Pours a clear copper color with a medium sized tan head. Below average head retention. Aroma of toasted caramel malts and a faint herbal note. The taste is odd... tinny, fruity, almost reminiscent of canned tomatoes, with some caramel malts. Thin-medium bodied. Okay....
