The quality of the cold brewed coffee that goes into Texas Exile is important to us. That’s why we hooked up with MA coffee roaster Barismo. These guys are as serious about coffee as we are about beer. About 33 gallons of cold brewed coffee goes into each batch of Texas Exile right before fermentation, adding the perfect compliment to the brown sugar and oatmeal flavors of this huge imperial porter. Breakfast just got a punch in the neck.

22oz bottle pours a viscous, opaque black with some thin, beige head. Nose is very nice, licorice, molasses, malt, coffee, black pepper corns, a hint of smoke, raisin. Flavor is the same, sweet brown sugar, a very complimentary black pepper which smooths out the sweetness, molasses, very little smoke, coffee grounds, finally a little chocolate, some ancho raisin character lurking. Sweet, peppery finish. Hides the alcohol extremely well. Very nice.
