Sorachi Ace Saison is a light, bright & beautiful farmhouse ale powered by the quirky Sorachi Ace hop. This little-known Japanese hop is known for its lemony, herbal qualities and spicy aromatics, and they’re on full display in our beer.

Draught at Lulus, 1/15/16.
Lightly hazy goldenrod/waxen yellow beer with a modest white head that sits at cover.
Honey, white bread, lemon and sweet white pepper notes all give way to a melon-like note that seems to dominate. A touch of vanilla, a bit of Belgian character (very light esters and phenols) and a touch more peach fruitiness. Fruity, but very insipid and with nothing compelling whatsoever, despite nothing terribly bad going on here. No alcohol noted.
Flavor is again full of melon, light citrus, fresh cut grass and flowers. There’s a very simple, somewhat boring sweetness and absolutely no variation to the maltiness. Vaguely catty at times, with a touch of mustiness. Light, somewhat hard carbonation and a watery, bready-malty texture. Brooklyn Sorachi Ace is not a classic saison. I don’t know what the hell it is trying to be, but it’s definitely not that. Maybe this is a good deal better in the bottle? I don’t know, no aspects seem particularly well-done here.

33cl bottle. Poured a very slightly hazy straw colour with a thin broken white head. The aroma is lemon citrus, grassy hop. The flavour is dry mineral citrus with a light, refreshing, yeast, hoppy palate. Light bodied with average carbonation.

This is going to sound funny, but why did I think this was a cider? From the label? Bot. Slight alky phenolic aroma. Pretty cloudy lighter colored beer like a hazy light hefe. Cleaner fresh impact on this one. Aromatic volatile alky on the nose. Interesting unique flavor. Also, why would I think this was hot? Its not. Must be the label again. Never before have I been mislead like this by a label. Biting co2 keeps this going. Yes, and in the end, even tho it becomes a little medicinal, it does carry a shred of sunshine within it.

Draught @ BBB. Pours tiny hazy pale golden with a frothy and creamy white head that leaves a small trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is fruity and spicy with crackers, grapefruit juice, banana, hay, dry soil, white pepper corns, dill, orange zest and lemon zest. Taste is tiny sweet, slightly bitter, fruity and spicy. Mouthfeel is crisp, sparkling, slightly dry, tiny astringent, tiny boozy and medium bodied. Finish is tiny sweet and slightly bitter with crackers, grapefruit, banana, pears, hay, dry soil, white pepper corns, dill, orange zest, lemon zest and hints of alcohol. Crisp and just dry enought o be refreshing. Quite like this, very solid super saison. --- Beer merged from original tick of Sorachi Ace on 13 May 2015 at 21:11 - Score: 8. Bottle from Appellation Wines. Appearance - golden with a decent head and a very slight haze. Nose - typical saison yeast notes. Citrus and light spice. Taste - creamy orange and loads of floral things going on. White pepper too. Palate - light to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a long dry finish. Overall - balanced and enjoyable.

Bottled 750ml (Mikkola, Alko)
Slightly hazy yellow color, small white head. Grassy, fruity aroma, hints of grapes, gooseberry, apple. Light to medium-bodied. Zesty, lemony, evident dill from Sorachi Ace. Fruity, grapey Champagne yeast like flavor but aftertaste is dominated by Sorachi Ace dill. I am not so big fan of SA but ok sipping beer.

Hazy yellow color with a fine white head. Looks really inviting. Spicy and citric aroma with a fine intensity. Medium + body and a smooth carbonation. Ok balance between sweetness and acidity. Semi dry ending. What a nice and well blended flavor. Citric, some yeast, mild fruity and notes of some spices.
