Leichte Heunoten, langer Nachhall. Gut! 12/12/11/12//12

Bottle shared thanks to sjogro. Hazy deep pink to light red with small light pinkish head. Typical Nevel yeast, soft cherries and berries but more on the nose than in the flavor. Light oak, wheat, flowery. Medium sour, light sweet and quite light bitter. Medium bodied. Lovely mix of the wild yeast, weird kinds of wheat and the fruits. Nice.

Wild fruit beer from this Dutch wild beer specialist who insists on working with locally harvested ingredients as much as possible; fruited with cherries and blackcurrant. Batch #3, but with the same fruit as Batch #2 so the same beer, I assume. Off-white, very lightly pinkish-tinged, open and unstable head, misty vermillion red robe with ruby tinge but still clearly a shade paler than your average cherry beer. Aroma of lots of ripe blackcurrant more than sour cherry even if the latter are clearly present as well, redcurrant too, lemon juice, cold rosehip tea, freshly cut grass, bergamot, ‘natural’ iron (ferrous spring water), dry white wine, blood orange, damp earth. Crisp sour onset, rich blackcurrant juiciness again with the cherry being a tad less dominant, raspberry- and lime-like aspects as well, soft lactic tartness running through the whole but the overall sourness is unidimensional and friendly, and seemingly more a derivative of the fruit than of fermentation; light-bodied cereally backbone, bit wheaty, remaining soaked in this crisp, bright, juicy fruitiness, very summery, with a light earthy touch in the end and a retronasal rosehip note, coming across as iron-like but in a perfectly natural and non-disturbing manner. Light-footed, elegant summer fruit beer that fits perfectly in Nevel’s house style, lovely.

On tap @Luppolo Station (Rome). Vermiglia, mediamente torbida, schiuma bianca medio-leggera. In bocca è acida fruttata, tart, monocorde. Corpo medio, carbonazione medio-leggera. Un po' deludente.

Batch 1, bottled 01 NOV 2017, only cherries in this one. Nearly flat, lovely red colour. Smells hard sour, but doesn't taste it. Lovely tart flavour, with huge amount of woodyness, pretty light. Cherries add some sourness and flavour. Lovely balance.
