Machete is an eye-catching Double IPA with an overwhelming but balanced aromatic explosion. Hops emerge in a decisive, powerful and imperious way, triumphing over everything and giving beer hints of grapefruit and tropical fruit.

Very good yellowish head, over lively carbonated quite hazy orange-amber beer. Intense citrus and exotic fruitnose, with lots of hoparomas and even -bitterness suggested in the nose. Grapefruity, lychee, passionfruit. All the former aromas return in the taste, but paired to a remarkably present bubblegum flavour. Retronasal even hints at washing powder aromas; cray. Very slick, viscous - tempted to say soapy. Spritzy carbonation; long lasting flavours. Well worth some of its USA counterparts.

33cl bottle, from Geers, BB 10/2013, lot#188.12. Gotta love the ’Machete’ flick note beer description, ’Machete don’t text’.

Pours amber with a lasting head.Nose shows grapefruit and piny resin by the truckload. Some soft clean malt and light alcohol underneath.Flavours mainly follow along the same lines but also include some herbal and spicy notes. Lots of delightful malt underneath. Some alcohol is noticeable but it blends in well.Body feels pretty syrupy.

330ml bottle. Cloudy orangey golden to amber colour with average, frothy, fairly lasting, off-white head. Fruity and hoppy aroma with notes of grapefruit, blood orange, underlying resin and pine touch. Taste is fresh citrussy, crisp bitter, some resin and grapefruit. Very drinkable and maybe a bit light for an Impy IPA.
