Tap at SF Beer Week Opening Gala. Pours clear amber Aroma is piney, forest, some grass, also tropical fruits. Body is heavy, sweet, but rather unrefined. Bitter, lively carbonation. Lingering bitter palate. All not too bad, but lacking balance

On tap at Harry’s Hofbrau in San Jose. Strong pine with moderately low citrus and lemon. Hazy orange-gold with sustained white head of moderate size. Moderate lacing down the glass. Taste is sweet and biscuit malt. Residual sweetness is cloying. Moderate low bitterness. Alcohol is apparent with slight warmth.

Sample at the Bistro’s DIPA-festival 2015. Amber with a white head. Aroma and taste of grapefruit, hops, light caramel and some weak notes of grass. Bitter and slightly sweet.

Draft @ 13th Bistro Double IPA Festival, Hayward, CA. Pours a clear amber color with a small off-white head. has a fruity malty grapefruit hoppy bitter aroma with hints of caramel. Fruity malty hoppy bitter piney grapefruit flavor with hints of caramel. Has a fruity malty hoppy bitter piney grapefruit finish.

Draft at kern River Brewing. Nose is grapefruit, floral, and a bit of piney hops mixed with some lightly sweet caramel malt. Hazy orange with a medium beige head. Flavor is moderately sweet mixed with a lower bitterness and notes of caramel and pine. Finishes slightly sweet caramel and a slight bitterness. Different DIPA.

Sample at the brewpub. Pours a slightly hazy copper color with a medium off-white head that recedes steadily. Rings of lacing on the glass. Grapefruity hops aroma with notes of malt and pine. Medium body with flavors of citrusy hops, pine and caramel malt. The finish is hoppy with a lingering bitterness left behind. Pretty good all around.

Draft. Rich orange amber beer with a cream colored head. Grapefruit and caramel aroma. Caramel, grapefruit, and pine flavor. Medium-plus bodied. Decent bitterness. Caramel, grapefruit, and light pine lingers.

Tap at the Raley Field Brewfest. Pours dark amber with a foamy begie head. Lots of grapefruit aroma. Medium body and carbonation.Tastes lots of grapefruit over mildly roasted malt. Nice persisting bitter. Good!

Handbottle thanks to wavers1. Pours with a huge off-white head and a hazy golden-amber body. Quite pretty, full head retention. Aroma is grassy, caramel, light dankness, tropical fruits. Taste is very sweet for a DIPA, strong malt backbone. Could be drier (lower FG), but the resulting beer is very balanced (not what I think of when I think of West-Coast DIPAs). Caramel, tropical fruits. Prickly carbonation and a somewhat thick mouthfeel. Tasty.

Excellent DIPA. Lots of malt, lots of hops. It’s relatively sweet for such a hoppy beer and there’s still a lot of bitterness in the flavor, but the malt has a bigger part. Big caramel notes, almost spicy. Smooth feel. Huge piney and floral hop aroma. Lots of delicate hop flavor - this beer saw a lot of dry hopping. Amongst the best DIPAs I’ve tried.
