bottle. Red dark brown colour with a beige head. Aroma is butterscotsch, roasted malt, licorice. flavour is sweet, butterscotsch, vanilla, malt, hop, licorice, dried fruits. Medium body. Ordinary beer.

Bottle: Poured a clear brown color ale with a medium size foamy head with medium retention and limited lacing. Aroma of caramel malt with toffee notes and some whisky notes. Taste is a well rounded mix between some caramel malt with some whisky notes and some light toffee but overall mix is not overly sweet. Body is light with somewhat of an oily texture and good carbonation. Enjoyable though there is something in the aftertaste that I am having a hard time identifying but is common with this brewer that I more or less enjoyed.

[330ml bottle from Sainsburys, Marlow] Mahoganywith a moderate beige head. Far too fizzy. Blackcurratn up front, then very evident, raw alcohol. The usual Innis & Gunn wood & vanilla is there, but more subdued than normal. Licquorice and some sourness comes through in a fairly sweet and sticky finish. Feels unfinished, and needs moe time for the flavours to marry together. I’m something of a fan of I&G normally, but this is definitely not one of their better efforts.

Bouteille 330ml. De couleur ambrée-brune et claire. Nez de caramel légèrement rôti, moyennement boisé (fût de chêne) et de vanille et léger de fruits (fruits confits) avec des traces de chocolat noir. Moyenne-mince en bouche avec un pétillement moyen-doux ainsi qu’une texture légèrement huileuse. Goût boisé (fût de chêne) avec un léger goût de vanille ainsi que des notes fruitées (fruits confits) lors de l’entrée en bouche auquel se rajoute un goût de caramel butterscotch aux notes rôties avec quelques traces de chocolat noir puis en finale le goût boisé ressort du lot avec de faibles traces épicées (poivrées). Post-goût moyen, composé d’un moyen goût boisé avec des petites notes rôties et brûlées.

Sampled from a 12 oz clear bottle this beer poured a nut brown color with a small soapy tan head that faded quickly and left a bit of lacing. The aroma was caramel, toffee, cherry, wood and brown sugar. The flavor was semi sweet, tart and a bit astringent with notes of berries, wood, brown sugar and tobacco. Medium length tart berry, wood and tobacco finish. Medium body. Pleasant.

Beautiful dark mahogany color with small sized frothy head, short lived. Very light aroma of caramel. It has some caramel flavor, hints of mild chocolate, but the body is a bit too dry and thin, and there are traces of DMS; ordinary bitterness.

Bottle. A clear, reddish dark brown beer topped by a small, firm, beige head. The aroma has butterscotch, some roasted malts, toffee and licorice. Medium to full body, dry and soflly carbonated. Roasted malts, butterscotch and some licorice. Some dried fruits. Short, butterscotchy finish that doesn’t impress at all. I wonder why all the Innis & Gunn beers is so full of butterscotch. 130119
