A black beer, a head is brown and almost medium. Aroma has strong coffee, roastiness, sweet chocolate. Taste has coffee, balanced sweetness, roastiness, some chocolate. Full bodied, pleasnt and velvety palate. Great beer, the strong coffee is dominating.

355ml Bottle - Black with a tan head. Coffee, plain chocolate, liquorice and some earthy notes in the aroma. Roasted and earthy taste with coffee and plain chocolate dominating. Some slightly metallic notes can be detected in the finish but they do not last long and notes of vanilla and coffee take over after that.

Pours black from the bottle with a creamy, yellowish, tannish head. The head subsides and lingers for the duration. Aroma is coffee and chocolate with an emphasis on the coffee. Taste is oatmeal sweet, but also thick black espresso. The coffee dominates through to the finish, although a light chocolate sweetness is discernable near the end. Body is thick, sticky, and rich. No need to have dinner after this one. Drank this one right after an Anchor Porter, and although this is an excellent brew, the slightly better balanced Anchor won the day for me. Fazit. Excellent - although maybe not for breakfast.

355ml bottle. A little chocolate in the nose but mostly bitter savoury coffee and bread. Flavour is pretty much just coffee. It’s bitter and dark and there’s a nice roasted note that leads into an almost ash finish. My main complaint is that you can really taste the alcohol, with plenty of brandy notes in there. For me, it really clashes with the oat notes. It means that whilst the foreground is nice and smooth, the background is a little chaotic. This beer is perfectly pleasant, just not spectacular for my tastes. I guess the description does say I have to love coffee, and I don’t really like coffee at all, so...

Taste is quite creamy and thick, a lot of dark chocolate, roasted/burnt malts, vanilla, cacao, soft bitterness, low co2, quite sweet, malty base taste, earthly, nuts, a little too much coffee imho, pretty body, syrupy, milkchocolate, hazelnuts, medium complexity..... hmmm expected more of it.... at least less coffee.... however still ok..
