Boskeun is the nickname of Jo, one of the two brothers who preferred to brew blond beer at home. It is a special Easter beer, one of the first real Belgian Easter beers. (Slaghmuylder's paasbier being first). It has been brewed with pale malt, Golding hops, cane sugar and refermented in the bottle. It's a seasonal beer, so we suggest not to keep it eternally. The name Boskeun means rabbit of the wood (virgin wood, maybe?) and the label shows it, sampling the last brew.

Purchased this at Charles Street Liquors in Boston about 5 months ago. Enjoyed in a Duvel Tulip at cellar temperature.
A - Poured a funky hazy / cloudy dark orange to brown. Lots of sediment in the glass. 2 finger head that faded very slow.
S - It smells very sweet on the nose. Like splenda. It has this bready yeast smell and bananas as well. It’s a tropical belgian ale.
T - Up front, I get more tropical fruits. Pineapple and coconut. Very sweet in the middle. Finish is burnt sugar, bready yeast and a hint of spices. Very mellow.
M - 75% carbonation on the mouth swish. medium body. Pleasant bitter sweet finish.
O - This is a delicious beer.

Poured into a Hoegaarden Grand Cru glass in Jan 2007: the dirty amber colour shows up wonderfully, half way down the beer, I poured in the rest of the bottle, complete with the sediment of course, the dirty colour is now dishwater dark, the thick head stays to the end, it had not tried to leave even before I added the dregs. Strong aroma of young yeast hit me, off fruits and malt in smaller amounts, the aroma intensified after the second pour, a brewery yard type smell? Sour, bitter taste, with an alcohol kick towards the end of the mouthfull, the taste did not really change with the second pour, although the beer did get more concentrated because of the sediment. Very drinkable, but not one to stay on all night!

Etwas oxidierter, hell malziger Beginn. Trocken, alkoholisch, vergleichsweise süffig. Würzige, helle Kräuternoten. Etwas Karamell. Ein spezielles Bier, das trpotz seiner Stärke ausgewogen ist. Zum Ende würziger, deutlicher nach Karamell und Kräutern. 9/11/11/12/8/11

Bottle from bierkompass.de web shop. Hazy orange color with huge white head towering over my glass. Spicy aroma with yeast, tangerine, alcohol. Taste, molasses, honey, apricots, berries, burned sugar, yeast, lot of alcohol. Strong alcoholic finish. So far, there are much more better beers from De Dolle.

Bottled 330ml. -at Känguruh, Vienna. Orange coloured, medium sized white head, nice spicy fruity nose. Sweet malty, fruity and alcoholic with pleasant spicy hoppy notes. Nice bitterish and light alcoholic finish. Bit overcarbonated but much better than Extra Export Stout.

33 cl bottle @ home. 10% version, bottled 02/2010. Rated on 04.05.2011
Lots and lots of foam like always with De Dolle beers. Palate is rather high on CO2. Flavour is sourish and leathery, but somehow also a bit tripel-like. Alcohol starts to come through when this warms up in the glass.
