Boskeun is the nickname of Jo, one of the two brothers who preferred to brew blond beer at home. It is a special Easter beer, one of the first real Belgian Easter beers. (Slaghmuylder's paasbier being first). It has been brewed with pale malt, Golding hops, cane sugar and refermented in the bottle. It's a seasonal beer, so we suggest not to keep it eternally. The name Boskeun means rabbit of the wood (virgin wood, maybe?) and the label shows it, sampling the last brew.

33 cl bottle @ home. 10% version, bottled 02/2010. Rated on 04.05.2011
Lots and lots of foam like always with De Dolle beers. Palate is rather high on CO2. Flavour is sourish and leathery, but somehow also a bit tripel-like. Alcohol starts to come through when this warms up in the glass.

33cl bottle from Bierkompass. Poured dark brown with a lasting white head. Aroma is very spicy, yeasty and malty. Very complex. Flavor has yeast, more spices, some fruity notes and some sweet malt. Dry, but warming finish. Full bodied. Quite a strange brew.

On tap at the Brick Store Pub. Pours a clear yellow with a medium white head. The aroma is oranges, vanilla, and molasses. The flavor is very sweet with a pleasant bitterness in the background. The palate is heavy, creamy and smooth. Clean finish, and little aftertaste. Overall, this is a good, easy drinking, and very delicious pale Belgian Ale.

Bottle looks good. Beer in the glass also, deep golden nice head. Starts quite mild for a 10% ABV beer. Fine fruity malty, a bit sweet. Gets drier and drier, a bit alcoholic, fine warming. Finish again with a sweet note. Nice beer!

330 ml bottle, as DDB Boskeun Speciaal Paasbier, from Γlbutikken, Copenhagen. ABV is 10%. The glass fills completely by white foam, and the golden beer underneath appears only very slowly. Strong aroma of Belgian ale yeast, with fruity and spicy notes, also notes of white kandij sugar syrup and alcohol. Sweet flavour, with spicy, fruity and yeasty notes. The alcohol is noticeable, but not dominant. Peppery aftertaste.

Vintage β09 bottle shared with Deanso. Hazy golden pour with large but quickly dispersing white head. Aroma has fruit, caramel and alcohol. Taste was influenced by the aging in a positive way. The fruit flavors are complemented by a sweetness that is reminiscent of aged Stille Nacht. Bitterness seems to have gone.
