Boskeun is the nickname of Jo, one of the two brothers who preferred to brew blond beer at home. It is a special Easter beer, one of the first real Belgian Easter beers. (Slaghmuylder's paasbier being first). It has been brewed with pale malt, Golding hops, cane sugar and refermented in the bottle. It's a seasonal beer, so we suggest not to keep it eternally. The name Boskeun means rabbit of the wood (virgin wood, maybe?) and the label shows it, sampling the last brew.

Connecticut Ave Liquor Mart. DC 11.2oz ($6): Pours with a rather thick white head over an orange body. Delicious fruit and somewhat more delicious yeast. Beer is sweet and fruity at the front and goes toward a hoppy finish at the end. The yeast is very tasty as always with this brewery (which is why I always sample their beers), although not in as heavy of a presence as some of their other beers are. Everything is in very good balance. Really good mouthfeel and alcohol is completely covered up. A few winy notes are in there as well. If De Dolle beers are an acquired taste, then it is a taste I have acquired.

330ml bottle from Bierkompass

Pours orange with a white head. Fruity aroma with hints of spices. Taste is spicy. Alcohol burns through way too much. Long lasting finish.

draft@ZBF 2011: medium bodies with mild spice (balanced/ not overt), some bitter hops, slightly toasted malt,, fresh dark fruits, spring beer that still carries over something from the winter, very nice, less amazing than their other offerings ///// bottle: seems to be somewhat more balanced with a bit lighter body & more fruit character incl. some citrus

[Trade by Dedollewaitor]Pours hazy orange golden with a very bubbly off-white head that disappeared very fast. Aroma has notes of malt, bread, alcohol and some fruitiness. Taste is medium to heavy sweet with a good alcohol punch at the end. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is lively

Orange yellow beer with very big and blond head. Aroma is fruitfull, yeast, spicyness, oranges and a hint of coriander. Lot of carbonation, nice and full-bodied to drink. Taste is full with fructose fruitness, yeast and peppery spicyness. Great beer with lots of aromas and flavours, enjoyable beer.

Sweet amber beer. Subtle toffee and banana dominated by a brandyish tone. Dry frothy finish. Better when pretty cold!

Cloudy orange beer, massive towering white creamy head, very stable, adhesive. Aroma: very fruity, peaches, strawberry, on warming up a lot of citrussy hops and yeast, herbal, alcohol. MF: soft carbon, full body, creamy texture, very smooth. Taste: fruity, some sweet malts, some toasted malts, then soft but tasty hops. Aftertaste: somewhat citrussy, long dry bitterness. Amazing good beer, reminding me of the Corsendonck Agnus.

Uncapped to an explosive experience. The remaining 5oz or so ended up in my glass with an opaque copper brown body and bubbly off white head. The aroma is honey covered apple, kiwi juice, coriander, Belgian candi sugar and yeasty spices. From time to time the taste tries to be prickly with carbonation but the soft sweet body manages to intercede. I get sweet red apples, some brown sugar, smooth coriander spices, a growing black pepper sensation, sweet honey covered tart green apples and a cocktail of plum and kiwi juice. Interesting.

330ml Bottle - Amber with a foamy head. Extremely lively and difficult to pour. Fairly aromatic with hints of peach, passion fruit and honey. Slightly sweet taste with notes of peach and honey followed by a bittersweet and fruity finish.

(bottle, 33cl) Cloudy, murky orange-golden colour with a giant but not very persistent off-white foamy head. Yeasty, sweet and slightly sugary (cara-)malty and wheaty aroma with notes of overripe fruits (citrus, oranges) and spicy, slightly mouldy phenols. Sweet flavour, full bodied with a smooth carbonation. Yeasty (cara-)malty taste with moderately fruity notes and peppery spicy accents; sweet and slightly hoppy and yeasty bitter finish with distinctive spicy notes and a warming alcoholic strength. 30.III.10
