Boskeun is the nickname of Jo, one of the two brothers who preferred to brew blond beer at home. It is a special Easter beer, one of the first real Belgian Easter beers. (Slaghmuylder's paasbier being first). It has been brewed with pale malt, Golding hops, cane sugar and refermented in the bottle. It's a seasonal beer, so we suggest not to keep it eternally. The name Boskeun means rabbit of the wood (virgin wood, maybe?) and the label shows it, sampling the last brew.

Very hazy light orange with maybe some visible sediment. Big and dense white head, excellent retention and lacing. Aroma is softly yeasty and sugary, with notes of honey, chamomile and yellow fruits (peach, pear). Taste is very sweet (sugar, honey, chamomile), nicely attenuated by the slightest tartness and by a hint of spiciness. Overall it still feels balanced enough. Alcohol is extremely well hidden. Medium to dense bodied with medium to high but somehow very soft carbonation (sugar?). Overall the beer feels pleasantly soft and delicate. Good stuff.

Bottle, courtesy of SinH4, bottled probably 1994/1995. Pours almost clear light brown. Aroma is a bit of soy sauce, spicy, old prunes. Body is medium, fruity, but a bit sour and rather tart, intense. Incredibly balanced and harmonic. A little boozy on the palate. An experience not to miss!

From old tasting notes. Hazy deep honey gold color.large, thick beige head.intense fruity malt aroma. Wonderfully intense sweet malt flavor upfront. Obvious alcohol strength is present throughout. Cloying malty flavor lingers in each sip. Delicious honey flavor and light malt finish.

F: huge, white, very good retention. C: orange gold, hazy with yeasty debris floating in. A: malt, orange peels, honey, yeast, apple, spicy, candy. T: malty, caramel, fruity, banana, spicy, red apple peels, dusty, warming alcohol is noticeable but not over-helming, full body, medium to high carbonation, good balanced, 33cl bottle from Spar supermarket in Oostende.

Still a proper Belgian classic.

Tap at Ma Che Siete Venuti a Fa in Rome-Italy. Orange cloudy pour, medium white foam. Nose: lime, honey, creme brûlé. Taste: spiced honey, sweet canditi, clean and rich, cookies.
