Boskeun is the nickname of Jo, one of the two brothers who preferred to brew blond beer at home. It is a special Easter beer, one of the first real Belgian Easter beers. (Slaghmuylder's paasbier being first). It has been brewed with pale malt, Golding hops, cane sugar and refermented in the bottle. It's a seasonal beer, so we suggest not to keep it eternally. The name Boskeun means rabbit of the wood (virgin wood, maybe?) and the label shows it, sampling the last brew.

Bottle at home, 26th March 16, Easter Sunday. Pours dark amber, quite a head to start that dissipates. Aroma is yeast, brown sugar, booze, liquor. Taste is soft brown sugar, spice, honey, yeast. Very tasty.

Compared to 2010 this is less dusty and more forward on the vinous grapes. Taste is drier with a bitter bite. Eaters are more balanced.

Rare and a bit disappointing actually. Hard to describe what that is wrong. Seemed at bit messy in the flavor and to much yeast in the profile. I do not think the honey helped this one.
Clear golden color. All sediments left in the bottle. Fine white head. Strong aroma with candy sugar, honey, yeast, toffee and dried fruits. Full body and a bit to rich carbonation. Quite balanced sweetness for a beer like this. Complex flavor with yeast, dried fruits, some spices caramel and quite vinous. Quite well masked alcohol.

Bottle courtesy of Deanso. Poured a hazy straw colour with a frothy white head and lots of bubbles. The aroma is sweet caramel, toffee, light alcohol. The flavour is moderate sweet with a yeast bitter, sweet malt, sickly alcohol sugar palate. Medium bodied with lively carbonation. A nice beer, but I don’t get the high ratings from everyone else i’m afraid.

Hazy, amber colored, some floaters, medium white creamy head, very lasting. Aroma is of fruits, bit winey, some apple, spicy and peppery. Taste is medium to very sweet malty caramel, candy sugar, apple and fruits, slightly winey notes, spicy peppery medium bitterness, touch of alcohol and bit boozy, dry finish, decent lasting aftertaste. Medium to full bodied, average carbonation, oily.

Hazy golden color with big white head. Aroma is spicy, very yeasty, sweet fruits, ripe apples, peaches, honey, some candied and powdered sugar. Taste is more sweet fruits and spices, finishes warming with a booze kick. Thick and syrupy mouthfeel. High but soft carbonation. Very intense and sweet. I usually don?t like this kind of strong, sweet and highly carbonated Belgian strong, but I have to admit, De Dolle always pulls it off decently. 7-4-7-4-15 Mid-90s bottle. Nice condition, lots of plums, intense! Perfect treat for Easter!

hazy golden to orange colour, huge white head; aroma of dried fruits, pear (?), floral and herbal notes, hints of toffee, maybe some vanilla and alcohol, too; taste of dried fruits (pear and apricot), sugary notes, spices, white wine-like notes, Belgian yeast, some bread and hints of alcohol; really great Belgian strong ale
