Boskeun is the nickname of Jo, one of the two brothers who preferred to brew blond beer at home. It is a special Easter beer, one of the first real Belgian Easter beers. (Slaghmuylder's paasbier being first). It has been brewed with pale malt, Golding hops, cane sugar and refermented in the bottle. It's a seasonal beer, so we suggest not to keep it eternally. The name Boskeun means rabbit of the wood (virgin wood, maybe?) and the label shows it, sampling the last brew.

hazy golden to orange colour, huge white head; aroma of dried fruits, pear (?), floral and herbal notes, hints of toffee, maybe some vanilla and alcohol, too; taste of dried fruits (pear and apricot), sugary notes, spices, white wine-like notes, Belgian yeast, some bread and hints of alcohol; really great Belgian strong ale

Pours a slightly hazy light gold with a huge head of foam. ..great lacing left behind.

It smells hoppy, spicy, lightish on the malt profile.

First thing that I notice is an abundance of candi sugar sweetness followed by spice like cloves and pepper. Slight bitterness but it can easily get overlooked.

Pretty lively carbonation to go with the medium body.

A well brewed example of the style.

Part of a stellar tasting lineup at K&L Wines in Redwood City. A little disjointed, with the sugar showing through a little too much in the taste. Beautiful appearance with massive white head that lingered.

Pours a hazy yellow/Amber with full head. Aromas of bananas, marshmallows, and dried stoned fruit. (Belgian yeast.) Creamy flavors of same with additional sweetened honey and light marmalade. Full and creamy. Great stuff.

Bottle. Nose is fruity, pear, banana, cloves, bubblegum, wheat, sugars, caramel, sweet strawberry, yeast. Taste is sweet, grassy, bubblegum, pear, peach, strawberry, caramel, honey, an emerging dry hop note. Yeast and honey in the finish. It’s a beer which makes good use of it’s honey picking up the dry notes you find in good honey, not just the sweetness. Still it’s too sweet overall for me and it makes it a bit rich.

Tap@Taphouse, Copenhagen - pours a dark golden colour with a white head. Sweet malty aroma and taste, some caramel, earthy yeasty, some syrup notes, some citric notes, nice.

33 cl. bottle @ home, bought from a colleague. Hazy dark golden with a white head. Sweet caramel and honey aroma, with some yeast. Taste is at first cloyingly sweet but the bitterness follows quickly. Mouthfeel is sticky, alcohol s very well concealed. A bit too sweet for my taste but worth the try.
