Bottle. Brown with a medium tan head. A lot of sweet malt in both the aroma and taste. Caramel, nuts and some dark fruits. Carbonation and body was medium. Drinkable beer but not the best one from Struise.

[330ml bottle from Beers of Europe] Murky red-brown with a large, foamy beige head. Sweet fruity malt aroma. Tastes of sweet caramel, dates and fruit at first, then grassy hops coming through that really don’t go. A little bitterness, but mainly very sweet. Felt a bit messy to me, and after a reasonable start I enjoyed it less with each sip.

330ml bottle @ Pikkulintu, Helsinki

Pours brown with a small head. Aroma has hints of malts, vegetables and alcohol. Taste is sweet and malty with notes of caramel. Sticky finish, medium bodied. A bit unbalanced.

Bottle bought at the brewery and aged for about a year. rich caramel toffee colour with a light brown head that doesn’t last that long. Aromas of sweet malt and rasins with a hint of roast. The flavour packs a bigger punch with the roasted flavours coming through a lot more and lingering after every sip. Finish is reasonably dry. It maybe could have done with a little bit more carbonation.

2009 Vintage bottle@Kulminator: dark brown with red hues with a small head, earthly hop smell, tastes of malt, liquorice, dark bread, rotting dark fruits, mould, moss, fungus, like a moss covered forest mixed with exotic blue cheese, body is a bit thin

10/9/9/11//10

Hazy nut brown color, small steady off-white head. Bready, nutty, caramelly aroma with strong alcohol presence. Full-bodied. Bready, sugary, very sweet, toasted rye bready. Somewhat like German doppelbock but very sweet, almost like Danish table beer :)

Bouteille 33cl.

21/01/2011 - 33cl bottle @ home (2011-25)

Cloudy purple to brown coloured beer, big beige soft head, reduces quickly to a stable 1cm head. Aroma: caramel, earthy, yeast, hops, very spicy. On warming up it tends more to mocha and chocolate. A very complex nose! MF: ok carbon, full body. Very creamy almost oily texture, amazing. Taste: Sweet malts, caramel, ripe fruits, tart red berries, chocolate, bready yeast character. Aftertaste: hop bitterness coming through, also a little tart fruitiness. The complexity of this beer is really amazing. I love it!
