On tap at Borefts I. Hazy red-brown beer. Palate is fairly neutral. Maybe a touch of sulphur here. Low carbonation. Made with Irish Moss! Sweet creamy malt, noticeably alcoholic but not unpleasantly so. If anything slightly brandy and port wine. Finishes semi dry. Nice.

Deep brown to black body. Creamy off-white head. Aroma of both caramel and burnt malts with hints of smoke, wine, ripe fruit: strong and overwhelming, maybe even too much. Moderately sweet, moderately bitter flavour of liquorice. Quit well balanced flavour - very pleasing.

On tap @ BBF 2009. Red-brown color. Aroma’s: hop (bitter), malty sweetness and some fruit. Retronasal the hops are more aromatic than bitter. Flavor is medium sweet, medium bitter. Soft carbonation. Medium bodied. Long finish, but no new taste. Pretty awesome Belgian interpretation of the style. (8/3/7/3/15) 2 years later, had a bottle at home. Dark red-brown color with small but dense, beige head. Aroma’s are sweet, toffee, sweet & red fruit (berries), a bit herbal. Flavor is sweet, a bit old. Strong alcoholfeel. Reminded me of St. Amatus, that I had last year (young). (7/3/7/3/14)

Bottle from Beer Planet, Brussels
Cloudy brown color, with generous, beige, creamy head. Rich malt and caramel aroma, with fruitiness and dustiness typical of low fermentation, stronger than almost any German Doppelbock. Good body strength, malt and caramel flavor, with quite some sweetness, correct bitterness, and some alcohol warmth. Flavorful and balanced; excellent.
