Small, dense yellow head over reddish-cola coloured beer. Wood, leafy, mildly sweet dark malts, bit of solvent. Solvent again, leafy, wry-bitterish but mild, bit cherryflavour in the finish, but not really sweet. Retronasal some gingerbread. Near-astringent, dry, but the texture is surprisingly enough creamy. Well-bodied. Dry, enough Bock-like to rectify the name. In all, the character is more De Molen than Struise, IMO.

33cl bottle bought at De Molen’s Borefts Bier Festival. Light hazy reddish brown colour, creamy off white head. Aroma of sweet malts, dried dark fruits like raisins and prunes, caramel and a hint of sugary sourness. Flavour is sweet, very malty, dark bread, caramel, light roasted malts, raisins, some vanilla and cloves, hoppy bitterness underneath, some earthy liquorice and alcohol in the bitter finish. Medium bodied, soft oily mouthfeel. Very tasty bock.

33 cL bottle. Pours dark brown, hazy and with a quickly gone head. Aroma is wineous and roasted malty. Sweet caramelish and breadish roasted malty flavoured. Lingering fruity and dark malty. Sweet lingering malty flavoured finish.Light bitterness coming through with a lingering roasted malt note.

Bottle, 8.0%. Cloudy dark red brown colour. No head. The flavour is quite sweet, has some dried fruit. Good bitterness to balance. Slightly spicy, probably from the hops. A bit sweet, but very nice.

Bottle 33 cl. Courtesy of yespr/fonefan. Pours a cloudy orangey brown with a tiny, dissipating off-white head. Aroma of roasted malt, dried fruit and alcohol. Medium body, very tired mouthfeel that leaves me a little cold. Roasted malt, dried fruit. Hot finish. Not so interesting. 141109

Bottled. An unclear deep red beer with a thin orangey head. The aroma is very sweet with notes of spices, malt, caramel, and alcohol. The flavor is sweet with notes of caramel, bread, alcohol, nuts, and some spices, leading to a dry alcoholic finish. Thanks fonefan and yespr.
