Night Drift was a deep, full-bodied and complex Imperial Stout, brewed in collaboration with our friends Laugar, from the Basque Country. With this beer you’ll drift off the beaten path, into a world of double-chocolate and salted caramel. Just watch out, it’s stronger than you might think…

Bottle from De Poort Van Kleef, Deventer. Aroma is roasted malt, caramel, salted liquorice, cocoa nibs, chocolate, and notes of coffee. Flavour is sweet with a fairly bitter roasty finish. Body is medium to full. Pleasant Stout, heavy on the roast and salted liquorice with chocolate, could be a little more full, firm bittersweet flavour. Good.

330ml bottle. Jet black colour with late awakening, small, creamy, moderately lasting, and lacing, beige to tan head. Chocolately, slightly roasty, dark malty aroma, notes of dark chocolate, hints of cocoa, some milk chocolate. Taste is bitter, roasty dark malty and bitter hoppy, notes of Belgian chocolate, dark chocolate, dry cocoa, cautious fruity overtones with a blueberry touch; oily to viscous texture, smooth and soft palate, soft carbonation. Quite bitter, a bit one-dimensional.

Bottle at home, bought in Brussels, 24th May 19. Pours a black beer, big fizzy tan head that builds. Aroma is yeasty, caramel, molasses, black treacle. Taste is chocolate, caramel, truffle, some good bitterness, dry, coffee beans, not too sweet. This one grew on me, good, could be less carbonated for sure.

Bottle at home in Hackney - sourced from Belgium, either online or Malt Attacks. Pours black-brown with a fizzy beige head. Nice richness, some pleasant chocolate and burnt caramel, moderate roast, raisins, vanilla. Medium to full bodied with spritzy carbonation. Lightly warming finish with moderate ashy bitterness, more sweet chocolate, aged berries. Fun beer overall. With better carbonation and texture this would be a few notches higher.
