In the summer of 2009, the brewery 3 Fonteinen from Beersel needed to sell its Lambic. Giovanni Campari, founder and brewmaster of our brewery, had the idea to use that Lambic for making a blend with our Saison New Morning. He chose three barrels containing 18-month-old Lambic. The result of the blend exceeded our most optimistic expectations. Today the Beersel Morning is produced with Lambic by Gert of Oud Beersel, the most awarded Lambic producer in international competitions.

Clear golden colour, white head. Aroma of hay, citrus, lemon zest, barn, light silage, apricot, quite fruity, bit floral. Light sour flavour, white wine, pinot gris, hint of chamomile tea. Bit light body. Fruity finish, light lemon juice, malts, spicy touch. Nice and refreshing brew.

750 ml bottle bought @ biekompass.de. pours hazy deep golden with a frothy offwhite head that slowly dissipates while leaving some sticky trace and lacing on the glass. Smell is tiny sour, tiny funky and phenolic with crackers, phenolic yeast, cloves, ginger, lemon juice, barnyard and hints of lemony soap. Taste is slightly sour, malty and spicy with crackers, lemon juice, dry soil, cloves, lemon zest, wood, cloves, ginger, white pepper corns, barnyard and hints of leather and lemon grass. Mouthfeel is dry, tiny spicy astringent, tart and light to medium bodied. finish is slightly sour and slightly bitter with crackers, lemon juice, cloves, ginger, barnyard and sheet metal. Solid and tasty...

Bottle at the Croydonia Tasting, 13/07/13 - massive thanks to Manuele for digging this out of his cellar (s) for me! Hazy orange amber with little in the way of a roof! Nose is tarte fruits, funky, bitter soured mandarins, lemon rind, straw, barnyard. Taste comprises light yeast notes, sour orange, farmy, funky, grassy, dank citrus drenched fencepost. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, soured fruity finish. Decent sour, not too intense, eminently drinkable affair.

Bottle, many thanks to Colin! It pours cloudy golden-orange with a medium white head. The nose is earthy, stone fruit, orange tangerine, damp leaf and faint mustiness. The taste is orange, sour apricot, peach, earthy, hay, crisp tartness, barnyard, brett, sherbet and decent bitterness with a dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Very drinkable indeed. Balance is spot-on. Delicious!
