In the summer of 2009, the brewery 3 Fonteinen from Beersel needed to sell its Lambic. Giovanni Campari, founder and brewmaster of our brewery, had the idea to use that Lambic for making a blend with our Saison New Morning. He chose three barrels containing 18-month-old Lambic. The result of the blend exceeded our most optimistic expectations. Today the Beersel Morning is produced with Lambic by Gert of Oud Beersel, the most awarded Lambic producer in international competitions.

Bottled. A hazy amber beer with a thin beige head. The aroma has notes of hops, brettanomyces, and malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, lemons, and a bit of brettanomyces, leading to a dry finish. Thanks yespr for sharing.

Bottle 75 cl. Courtesy of yespr. Pours a cloudy opaque golden with a white head. Farty, Bretty barnyard aroma. Medium body, lively carbonation, Bretty with a tropical twist to it, even coconut accents! Ends dry with quite some barnyard. Very subtle on the tartness and actually quite sophisticated. 200812

75 cl bottle. Pours hazy yellow with a small white head. Aroma is citric, barnyard and fruity. Fruity, mild spiced and slight herbal. Crisp bretty and citric. Dry and lingering fruity into a smooth finish.

750ml Bottle (Thanks Nisse666) - Hazy amber with a foamy head. Musty aroma with notes of dried apricot and sultanas. Sour and tart taste with notes of lemon, peach, sultanas and toffee. Nicely balanced and has a pleasant tartness.

75 cl bottle thanks to Nisse666! Sampled on July 29, 2012Marked 6.2%Murky orange color, big off-white to yellow head. Acidic to sour, a bit lactic, currants scent. Acidic, a bit bitter, fruit peels, alcohol taste. Warming alcohol. Spritzy mouthfeel, low bitterness.

Hazy dull blonde. The aroma has lots of lambicy notes, light herbs...a good mix of both products. Sweet, herbal, lightly fruity and quite complex. The lambic really takes over the finish. Fun stuff, not necessarily an improvement on nuova mattina but still fun.

Bottle as Beersel Mattina shared by Marcus. Aromas of musty cheese and sour musty fruit. Smells like serious beer. Med body. Flavor is musty/funky/sour/fruity. A sessionable gueuze-like ale. Quite nice.

Good lacy head over hazy orange beer. Superb nose with horseblanket, grapes and lemon. Unfortunately, the flavours are glue, almonds, and an adstringency that is aldehyde-like. The beer is light, and instead of overattenuated, comes over as unfinished. Strange, despite the 3 Fonteinen insert.

(Bottle, 0.75 l - courtesy of brandman, 20111022) The beer poured deep golden and hazy. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had spices, black pepper, grapefruit and fruitiness. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were spices, black pepper, sourness, banana, fruitiness, hops and bitterness. Aftertaste was sour, spicy and bitter. I found this too watery and too soft.
