A special twist on the Finnish style Sahti, brewed at Nøgne Ø in cooperation between Dugges Brewery, Sweden, and Nøgne Ø of Norway. Brewed with rye and wheat, sea wormwood from the Swedish archipelago, juniper twigs from the Norwegian forests, honey from heather flowers in Telemark and three selected yeast strains from Belgium, Germany and Britain, and of course, some malt and hops too.

Bottle. L: Hazy apricot coloured beer. S: Jasmine rise, spicy, honey. A: Spicy beer with a moderate bitterness in the aftertaste. Medium bodied. O: I don’t like Sahti, but i kind of miss the special Sahti-character anyway. This is just a very spicy ale.

500ml Bottle (Thanks Gnoff) - Amber in colour, with fairly lively carbonation. Fruity aroma with juniper berries, dried fruit and fairly strong hints of honey, which seem to get stronger and stronger. Fruity taste, with hops, juniper berries, honey and a fairly sweet finish. Two good breweries, but sadly not as good as I was expecting. Not bad, but not really like a Sahti.

Bottle, 11%. Fruity aroma. Cloudy orange colour, gets a little muddy towards the bottom. Honey flavour, captures the flowery notes in honey without getting to alcoholic or dry. Of course a good deal of alcohol notes in the finish.

Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of yespr. Slightly hazy golden with an off-white head. Spicy aroma with distinct alcohol. Quite full-bodied, some malt with juniper accents, but mainly dominated by honey and beeswax. Distinct alcoholic finish. More interesting as an experiment rather than as a drinkable beer. 040409

Pours dark hazy amber with a small head. Citrus and honey on the nose; loads of honey. Thick mouthfeel. flavour is loads of honey with notes of citrus and dried fruits. Alcohol bitter finish. It tastes nothing like the "real" Sahtis I’ve had, more like a Belgian Triple.

50 cL bottle. Pours hazy orange with a small white and fizzy head. Citrusy, orange fruity and peachy aroma. Herbal to floral aroma. Sweet juniper fruity flavoured, solid bitterness and light sweet caramel malt base. Slight herbal note from back of the nose. Ends bitter and floral with a light alcohol warmth.

Bottle. It pours a slightly hazy golden body under a small, beige head. Cute lacings. The aroma is quite honey dominated, but there’s also room for hops, a spicy touch of heather and sweetness. Evident alcohol too. Sweet, honeyish flavor with a good dash of alcohol giving a pleasant, lasting warmth. Resiny hops, heather, a faint note of caramel, and some impression of a belgian blonde. Full-bodied, smooth and well carbonated. Lasting, sweet and quite bitter finish with a little peppery touch and a warming sensation both in the mouth and throat. Definately not a sahti, even though there’s similarities in the inredients list. I have started to really appreciate it after I’ve had a few of it, and it’s a pity most of the bottles was shipped out of Norway. (090324)

Bottle. Golden colour with an off-white head. Aroma is honey and herbs. Flavour is honey, herbs, floral, heather, malt, hop, spices. . Nice body. Nice beer, but i don\t like honey which dominate the flavour too much to me.

Bottled, Beer Hunter’s (batch #382, bryggt 160908). Hazy light amber color, small off-white head. Strong aroma of honey, herbs and yeast, some hops too. Very alcoholic, trippel-like hoppy and spicey brew with some honey added. Like Duvel on drugs. Some juniper in the aftertaste. Interesting beer, but misuses the EU protected Sahti name/trade mark. This is not a sahti but a spiced Belgian strong ale.

Bottled@Sorbon, Brommaplan, Stockholm. Amber colour, small head. Aroma is juniper, honey and hops. Flavour is quite much the same. This is a very special twist on a sahti, the juniper is probably the only thing in both... As mto says a big rape of beertraditions to even think about calling this a sahti. Interesting beer though... 15 minutes of shame for Nøgne Ø and Dugges for this one.
