It is hardly a secret that we at the Amager Brewery have a deep rooted love for Imperial Stouts - the noblest of all beers. In fact, we are constantly in the process of developing new variations of this fine beverage, this variation has eight malts and three hops. We are particularly proud to present what we feel is the king of hops: Zeus.
Amager Imperial Stout is a beer as black as mortal sin , crowned with the densest and most creamy light brown head. The coffee and chocolate accents are very distinct, but they come exclusively from the malt, while the aroma is rich with vanilla.
Amager Imperial Stout is in all respects a fierce beer for the more demanding and experienced beer drinkers who are not afraid to challenge their senses.
Ingredients: Water, barley malt, wheat malt, oats, brown sugar, hops and yeast

50cl Bottle from De Bierkoning. Pitch black colour, thick creamy beige head. Soft, smooth, but rich aroma of chocolate, liquorice, roasted malts. Flavour is bitter chocolate, hard roasted malts, bitter citric hops, also a nice chocolate sweetness, some sticky sugar, followed by an earthy hoppy and coffee bitter finish. A bit less than fullbodied, smooth mouthfeel. Just like I like them..

Huge dark beige head over pitch-black beer. Dry USA hops, blackcurrant, burnt malts, baked pisang, my companion says. Very burnt, totally roasted coffeebeans, USA hops, exotic fruit/grapefruit, bit cheesy. Very thick consistency. Alcoholwarming, but it doesn’t seem to have 10%. Bit thin ending. Not outstanding, but good I.S. Why USA hops are absolutely necessary, isn’t quite clear to me.

(Bottle, purchased at Ölbutikken, Copenhagen) Pitch black colour with distant hints of ruby when seen through light. Thick, frothy, brown head leaving traces of lacing. Yes, this is what a beer should look like! Roasted, malty nose with coffee, dark chocolate, liquorice and resiny, piney hops. Malty, roasted taste with black coffee, cocoa powder, liquorice and piney, citrussy hops in the finish. Full bodied, smooth mouthfeel. Alcohol is well disguised behind the heavily roasted malt and lovely piney hops. Balanced is brilliant. I had some expectations on this one, but happily it’s possibly even better than expected. A stunning beer. Lovely stuff!

(25cl bottle, batch No. 52, courtesy of Papsoe) Black as coal in the glass with a short creamy beige layer. Thick roast-malty aroma with notes chocolate, dried fruits, licorice, vanilla and alcohol. Light-sweet and moderately burnt bitter flavour, full bodied with a creamy mouthfeel. Strong roast-malty taste with chocolate, licorice, light notes of smoke and a brandy-like alcoholic burn lingering into the mildly sweet and burnt bitter finish. Complex brew, but the alcohol cannot be hidden (09.IV.09).

Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a large medium brown foamy head with great retention and very good lacing. Aroma of dry roasted malt and bitter hosp with great black dry chocolate notes. Taste is also a nice mix between some dry roasted notes and some black chocolate with a bitter hoppy finish with notes of green fresh hops. Full body with a somewhat creamy body and great carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Very well done if maybe slightly too hoppy and more creamy chocolate malt could have potentially improve this beer.
