I’m absolutely flabbergasted that I’ve not rated this beer before. Have drunk it many times – though not recently. Anyway, cask at Iron Ram, Derby (not listed in RateBeer). Pours golden amber with minimal off-white head and good lacing. Just some vague malty hints in the aroma. In the mouth it is bitter (but with some underlying sweetness). It has a creamy texture but is also somewhat thin. Flavour has traditional hops, malts and oranges. Finish is slightly dry. It’s reasonable.

Klar golden med høy, boblete hvit topp som daler sakte. Aroma; Karamell, malt, humle, honning, overmoden banan. Smak; Banan, karamell, lynghonning, humle, noe krydder, hint av lime-skall. Overaskende myk i munnfølelse. Balansert og med en varende ettersmak. Smakfull men ikke intens. Godt øl. Gave fra Djoeye.

Pours to a dark amber with a fine porous head. Nice nose, caramel, some banana notes, spice, almost like a Belgian ale. Very fine carbonation. This is a nice drinking beer, not a flavour bomb but a flavourful and very drinkable ale without runaway esters. Medium sweetness, hit of caramel upfront in the mouth. Well rounded. Nice lingering medium bitterness.

Not as good as it used to be. Very short lived fizzy head. Aromas are caramel malt and fruit. Best buy date of October 23. But hops taste old with unbalanced bittersweet. Long bitter finish. A real pity because this used to be excellent beer.

There’s an off flavor to this bottle, not sure the beer is quite right.

Bottle from Village Vinters, Pyrford. The Export 4.7%, I note. Or is 4.7% standard now? Was surprised to see I'd never rated this before. Amd anothet bitter which marketing have rebounded as an Amber Ale. Aroma is malty with a berry tang. Clear brown. Thin foamy off-white head. Sour berries to the fore. Underlying bready malts and some woody bitterness. Tangy for sho'. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Average-fizzy carbonation. Long slightly astringent finish. Enjoyable enough ESB. I am sure I enjoy the cask version more.
