A deep brown stout with a thin brown head. In aroma, a nice smooth chocolate with light coffee and grassy notes. In mouth, very nice chocolate with light spices, coffee bitterness, well done.

Bottle at Beer Revolution, Calgary. It pours pretty much black, with a thin tan head. The nose is roasted malt, charcoal, coffee, bitter chocolate and liquorice. The taste is roasted malt, rich coffee, light acidity, charcoal, bitter cocoa, hint of dark fruit, light liquorice and treacle, with a dry, toasty finish. Medium body and fine, prickly carbonation. Well balanced and pretty flavoursome.

Bottle. Pours dark brown-black with a medium fizzy brown head, no real lacing. Aroma is roasted malt, bread, a bit of cardboard and that chemical smell that comes with second tier beers. Taste considerably better than aroma and is somewhat sweet roasted malt, coffee, bitter finish lingering into the far finish. Slightly metallic in the far finish. More like a porter than a stout in terms of palate presence. Not bad overall.

Black color with a deep red glow, so not completely opaque. Smell a lot of coffee, smells burned and dark chocolate. Taste coffee but the taste is a bit weak, still pretty nice though. Thin body, low carbo.
