This premium hand~crafted ale is a unique brew of three malts and three Tasmanian hops added late to the kettle plus an original 125 year old, top fermenting ale yeast, creating an easy~drinking, deep copper~coloured ale with distinct richness, creamy head, and a slightly nutty finish.

Reading the story on the label will probably last a beer. 6th DRG. Red berries aroma. Medium to full bodied at firts, but that waters out. Vinous flavor, like old Spätlese Rhinewine. Grapes, some rest sweetness. Just a touch of bitterness in the aftertaste.

Bottle enjoyed during a holiday in Australia, as the Original Amber Ale. Backlog rating from bottle collection and historic scoring. Source was the James Squire Brewhouse, Kings St Wharf, Darling Harbour. Tasting notes not kept, just rating. One of the better beers found back then.

From Feb 2006
Poured from bottle(room temp) a hazy amber with a large head of foam that dissipated fairly quickly leaving 1 large clump and a fine layer.
The smell is quite nice with a mix of malt and hops
The taste was very smooth with nice balance between the hop bitterness and the sweetness from the malt. I also sensed nutty and vanilla tones and they helped make this beer quite drinkable.
Bottom line: This is a good amber ale. One I'd buy again.

Deep amber color. Off sweet, malty palate that shows pears, toffee and peaches. Good depth for the style. Nice beer

Tap at the Crafty Squire, Russell St Melbourne. Poured a clear medium amber with a long-lasting thin white head and clingy lace. The aroma is caramel malt, toffee, light fruit. The flavour is moderate to light bitter, light sweet with a crisp, dry, fruity, dry malt, floral metallic hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation.

On tap at The Charming Squire, pours s hazy amber orange with a small white head. Aroma brings out bready malt, not much else. Flavour brings out fruity berry notes and bready malt. Clean and well-made, just leaving a lot to the imagination. Decent.
