RB backlog. Coffee grounds, ash, cinnamon, light berries, dark chocolate, oaky bourbon notes, pearly peat. Good Porter, very woody and deliciously peaty, while also quite well balanced. Thanks rauchbierlover!

Very dark brown with thin, beige, creamy head. Aroma is a mix of woodsmoke, toffee, stale cigarette and Pflanzenerde. Poke the nose around and there’s a sweeter undertone of birthday cake. Taste is dominated by a smoked bitterness that stays relatively mild. A hint of toffee sweetness lingers on the tongue afterwards. Body stays to the light side of medium, carbonation is soft. From feel reminds me a lot of some of the lower ABV porters I drank in Ireland, except that at 6.6 it can’t really be called low ABV. Perhaps not so efficient, but here’s nonetheless proof that, yes, the Germans are learning to do porters.

330 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet. ABV is 6.6%, 40 IBU. Black colour, large tan head. Aroma of roast malts and mild coffee, hints of dark chocolate and smoke. Soft mouthfeel. Soft flavour too, with the same elements as the aroma. Decent hops. Good beer.

Not too smokey, it’s subtle. But the roast contribution to the overall flavour is perfect. More body would make it a world-class beer. Landgang hamburg. Upon later tasting it is not so smokey anymore. But it a clean classic porter. Tried many times, downgraded to a 3.4 from 3.6 Upgraded back to 3.6 after a lively robust bottle from craftbiershop advent kal
