Taster at the brewery. Dark brown color with beige ring. Aroma is not too strong, mostly toffee. Taste is a complex nutty-earthy flavour explosion without being sweet-malty. Well-balanced, as always. Amazing take on the Scotch Ale style!

750ml bottle. Dark brown colour, beige foam head and aroma of malt, toffee, caramel, dark fruit, roasted, woody, nutty. Taste is sweet malty, roasted note, bready, with caramel, toffee, brown sugar, dark fruits, raisins, nutty and earthy spicy grassy bitterness. Smooth mouthfeel, medium bodied, soft carbonation, lingering malty finish. Nicely drinkable.

Bottle from BrewDog Liverpool. Aroma is christmas pudding, spices, and sweet malty caramel. Appearance is Deep dark ruby with off white head. Taste caramel sweet, plate is thick and creamy.

Shared with Hrabren, Habek and Anja T.! Someone else? Perhaps. This was what I’d waited for most eagerly the entire day. Almost black body, off white head. Strong aroma, malty assault, raisins, vague caramel/chocolate. Light alcohol. Sweet strong taste too, raisins again, clean, full maltiness, not much bitterness. Not as complex as I would’ve preferred, but this is flawless. Not a 4.0+ beer for me, though I do respect it highly.

Draft at 2014 Yokohama Beer Fest. Nice deep mahogany color with a thin off-white head. Lots of prune, currant, fig, brown sugar, vanilla chocolate and malt on the nose. Taste is more of the same, with a little of the alcohol peeking out as it comes to room temperature. Really, really smooth...like a great brandy. Full bodied with a thick texture. Keg at Brewdog, Shepherd’s Bush, London. A dark brown/black coloured pour with a thin off white/beige head on top. Rich, boozy, roasty, malty, caramel aroma. Tastes similar, rich, boozy, dark fruit, caramel, slight sweetness. A damn fine Scotch ale from Alesmith.

Bottle @ Home. Pours dark brown with a creamy offwhite head, heavy lacings. Aroma of malt, caramel, nuts, little chocolate, some sweet dark fruit notes. Flavor is rather sweet, malty, caramel, brown sugar, chocolate, little spicy, earth, nuts, sweet dark dried fruit, raisin, plum, some alcohol. Full body, soft carbonation, light warming alcohol. 200215

(750ml bottle @ VilleValla Pub, Linköping, Feb 6 2015) Pours very deep clear reddish brown with a small lingering bubbly off white head. Aroma nice and malty and toasted as well, sweet caramel molasses with a bit of raisin, lightly chocolatey, prune maybe, a little nutty note and wisp of smoke. Flavour of molasses and brown sugar, unsweetened cacao, toast, a mix of dried dark fruit, all kind of clinging to the roof of the mouth. Sweet at the beginning but becoming dry, mineral with a light toast bitterness. Aftertaste has some grain and lingering malt and dark fruit. Very light alcohol heat. The palate is almost watery and refreshing but with good flavour concentration. Light carb. Drinks so easily but elegantly. Great beer.
