American hops dominate this Rye IPA, creating an assertive citrus and passion fruit character. An old-world flavor from rye malt adds the perfect compliment to Goose Juice’s big, satisfying hop flavor and aroma. Originally home-brewed by our beloved brewer Goose, its wonderful combination of flavors inspired us to brew this specialty IPA.

Bottle, 22oz. A big, off-white head forms over an unclear, hazy dark golden to amber body. The aroma is resiny and citrusy with some maltyness. Bubble gum hints, lemon and a faint peppery hint. It could use a tad more bitterness, as the malty sweetness has too much room. Lemon, resins and some bubble gum and pepper hints. Full body, a tad too sweetish and carbonated, but very silky on the palate. Lasting finish with citrus peel and pine cones. A nice one indeed, although a tad too sweet. 130222

Tea nose, with very slight grapefruit peel notes. Clear amber, thick sticky yellow head. Whole orange flavor with lemongrass and tangerine accents. Malt peaks through the hoppiness in the finish. Alcohol not terribly pronounced, medium body.

22oz bomber courtesy of BMMillsy. It pours clear copper supporting a nice looking tan head of foam. The aroma offers up spicy hops, a spicy rye bread note, some pine resin and faint sweet citrus hard candy. The taste is smooth and dangerously drinkable. This is balanced with rich yum and resiny bitter pine hops, spicy rye bread, some floral hop bitterness and then a mild citrus hoppiness sweetened by some malts. Below those notes is a pleasing yet modest degree of black tea earthiness. I’m really liking this.

Bottle, thanks to Louie. It pours hazy orange with a small white head. The nose is pine, oily hop, orange, tangerine, mango and fruit salad sweets. The taste is tropical fruit, five alive fruit juice, rye, earth, spice, pine, light tartness and some alcohol warmth with a dry, bitter finish. Pretty delicious.

Location: Bottle at Nerd Beer Epic Weekend, 1/26/13
Aroma: This one has a nice nose, plenty grapefruit, citrus, pine, some rye, and some spice
Appearance: This one pours a caramel color with a small of-white and minimal lace
Flavor: The taste has a little sweetness, with plenty of rye , malts, and a mid-plus bitterness
Palate: The body is light-medium, there’s some tingly carbonation, and a little dryness
Overall Impression: Really solid IPA. Maybe not a top of example style, but solid. It’s almost a little sticky, but, overall, this is a more then enjoyable beer.
