100% Brettanomyces dark beer, fermented in stainless and aged in used red wine barrels. “Brett” is a unique yeast strain that produces flavors that would be offensive if they weren’t intentional. Flavors of sour cherry, tobacco, oak, and classic “Brett” barnyard funk, balanced by Dark Munich malt chewiness. Enjoy immediately or age at cellar temperature for a couple years.

Bottle thanks to Gibson. Pours a cloudy copper with medium beige head that lasts. The aroma is vinegar and light funk. Medium mouth nice sourness, wood, light funk, really enjoyed this one.

On tap at Haand Festival 2014. It’s an unclear, orange-brown beer with a small, off-white head. It’s lightly funky on the nose, with caramel maltyness and a hint of balsamic vinegar. It’s dry and tart on the palate, with a pleasant carbonation level, and flavors of caramel malts in the back, with some dried fruit notes, balsamic vinegar and a good funky touch. Lasting finish with a light vinegar sourness. An easy drinkable and tasteful beer that is far from as frightening as the name and bottle design might lead you to think. 140524

On tap @ Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2014. First beer! A blurry really warm amber brown colored one this. A nice medium sizes beige head on the top. Lovely tart red wine vinegar nose. Red berries. Yeah, it's definitely betted with something this. Lots of funky woody dark charred matches. It's lovely prickling on the soft bubbles and oily in the mouth. A bit watery perhaps? Well, not really after a few sips. Lots of flavors, quite bitter as well. Sour strawberries, sour apricots, red wine and fruity strawberries. Really lingering aftertaste. Draft pour at the Brouwers Big Wood festival. Pours a reddish orange color with an interesting sour peach, cherry aroma. Really dry sour fruit flavor. Tiny bit of a wheat finish. Tangerine and sour cherry flavor too. More dry finish. Solid beer. Fits right in with other great sours. Great beer.

750 ml bottle thanks to Andrew for sharing! Dark ruby color with very light aroma is plum, funky oak, cherries and stinky socks.
The flavor bad oak, old cherries, funky dark fruit, some red wine. Vinous and big funky oak. Aftertaste is very acidic. I understand why people like this beer, but for me it’s just to funky and acidic and bad. Call me old school but this just tastes like infection. Love it or hate it....

Appearance: It pours a dark brown color with a light brown colored head on top
Flavor: The taste is pretty sour, with some oak, and a little dark malt/fruity sweetness as well
Palate: The body is medium-plus, with a solid overall mouthfeel
Overall Impression: I tended to enjoy this one quite a bit. This bottle was quite nice. I'd happily try it again. I would think it works nicely with a few months or a few years on it.

Draft at Churchkey. Thanks, Corey, for bringing this to DC! Hazy maroon amber color, tan edge head. Aroma of sour brandied cherries. Taste like the old sweet and sour Rodenbach Grand Cru.
