100% Brettanomyces dark beer, fermented in stainless and aged in used red wine barrels. “Brett” is a unique yeast strain that produces flavors that would be offensive if they weren’t intentional. Flavors of sour cherry, tobacco, oak, and classic “Brett” barnyard funk, balanced by Dark Munich malt chewiness. Enjoy immediately or age at cellar temperature for a couple years.

Draught as "Pentagram Brettanomyces Ale” @ CBC’14
Aroma is woody with vinegar and sour cherries. Flavour is a bit bland with some vinegar, woody tones and cherry juice. Not my thing, too close to oud bruin.

Bottle 75 cl. Pours an almost clear orangey brown with a small, off-white head. Lovely smell of overrripe or even rotten dark fruits, massive Brett and funk up there. Medium body, very woody, tart red berries - a lovely complexity. Ends tart, but never overly so. Up there with the best Belgian Sour Reds. 141113

From the October 2013 3R6P tasting. +++ Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark brown color with hints of red-plum and a medium sized foamy-soapy beige head that left a bit of lacing. The aroma was sour, tart, yeasty, bretty and a bit chalky. The flavor was very tart and sour with a strong brett bresence, chalk, a hint of vinegar, a touch of nut and a lactic presence underneath. Very long tart. sour and lactic finish. Medium body. Interesting.

Bottle. Pours cloudy brown, small tan head, some lacing. Aroma is tart cherry, oak, vinous. Flavor is about the same, red wine and oak tannins dominate. Light sour, not much funk or Brett. Medium body. Nice, not amazing.
