From tap. Pours hazy dark brown to black with a small tan head. Aroma is roasted malty and light fruity. Mild tarish. Oily texture. Thick fruity. Mild sour. Dark malty and overripe fruity. Tart fruity finish.

Fra kran på Ølhallen 5 Feb 15. Svart. Lavt lysebrunt skum. God aroma av frukt & bær. Topp fylde. Silkemyk munnfølelse. Alkoholen ekstremt godt kamuflert. Så var det smaken da. Et udefinert litt tørt bærpreg - som da tydeligvis er solbær. Not my cup of tea.

(Keg at Pikkulintu, 20150205) The beer poured rather black. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had burnt malts, liquorice, spiciness, vineousness and wood. Palate was medium bodied and warming with medium carbonation. Flavours were wood, vanilla, burnt malts, sweetness, spiciness and bitterness. Aftertaste had vineousness, wood and low bitterness. A too woody brew but still not bad.

Tap at Pikkulintu, Helsinki. Colour is reddish dark brown with small white head. Aromas and flavors: Berries, blackcurrant, blueberries, some sourness and malts. Very juicy and palate is like red wine.

Small brown head doesn’t last. Opaque black body. Roasty fruity meaty aroma with coffee mealy herbal notes. Sweetish alcoholic roasty taste with chemical blackberry notes. Full-bodied. Sharpish, hot mouthfeel. Dryish roasty blackberry syrup aftertaste with floral herbal mealy notes. Interesting, but in no way worth that shocking 11.5% ABV. (0.5l bottle, gift from the brewery. Batch #1273.)

On tap at Cardinal, Stavanger. Pours black with small head. Aroma of blackberries, roasted malt, mint, coffee, smoke. Some fruity sourness, as well as some sweetness - very well balanced. Medium bodied. Unbelievably easy drinkable for its strength.

170ml draught at Ølhallen. Stable tan-coloured head, minimal lacing. Almost jet black coloured body. Smell of blackcurrant and grainy malts. Mid-tart blackcurrant flavours together with roasted dark malts and wood. Lingering bitterness of berries to the ending. Vinous impression. Full bodied. Different. Not quite sure what to make of it. (Tromsø 13.01.2014).

Sample on tap at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Black (or extremely dark brown) colour, low beige head. Unusual aroma of blackcurrants with a hint of solvent, liquorice, old rope and leather. Medium sweet flavour with a distinct fruity acidity and plenty of blackcurrants, also chocolate and liquorice. The alcohol is not overwhelming. Not really my cup of tea, but an interesting experiment.
