An Imperial Blonde Ale or Blonde Barley Wine; Helldorado has the lightest color of any of the beers in our barrel program but carries a great deal of interesting barrel character: vanilla, light char and amazing lavender-honey notes. Rich boozy honey liqueur character and loads of smooth sweet toasted malt to finish. The El Dorado hops dance in the background without playing a dominant role in the flavor profile. This beer gets better and better the longer it is in barrel.

22 oz. bottle, pours a hazy copper golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out notes of vanilla, cereal malt, and some toffee. Flavour is hot, with alcohol, lots of vanilla, and some honey liqueur. Pretty hot, but it's still quite drinkable for being 13+%. Not as impressive as some other Firestone Walker, but still pretty solid. Maybe I'll revisit in a year or two.

Boxed bomber. Aroma consists of toasted coconut, vanilla, oak, dark fruit, banana pudding. Pours hazy orange with a medium off-white head that falls into a skiff and collar after a minute. Taste is typical FW barrel-aged goodness, exactly what I want to taste in a barrel-aged beer. Itβs sweet without being cloying, finishing a little dry. Flavors contain all the aroma descriptors along with some mild licorice. Alcohol is extremely well hidden. Carbonation is fine, body is medium. Delicious.

Draught @ Pizza Port, Carlsbad. Aroma has strong barrell tones, bourbon and mild white wine. Flavour has bourbon, some ripe fruits and vanilla. Also alcohol. Too sweet and too bourbon - drinkability is not that great.

Poured up on tap at Whole Foods Chandler, AZ where it exhibits a clear deep gold body that supports a thin near white head. The modest aroma offers up some bourbon, vanilla and a sense sugary oak nuanced cotton candy. The taste delivers smooth forward bourbon booze and soft vanilla. Behind the boozy curtain are notes of oak, boozy sugary malts and some pear like sweet fruity esters. Boozy booze that seems on the boozy side. I get very little beer in this beer. This beer makes me miss beer.

Bomber from Capitol Beer in Sacramento, CA. Pours translucent gold with a moderate white head. Aroma is like watermelon? Med + body. Flavor is mixed fruit - like light stone and tropical. And a very roasty malt. Heat seems to be a flavor component. Itβs a bit thin for a barley wine, but the flavor aspects are right on. This really needs to be in Calvados barrels for a year or two. Please! This is yummy.
