375mL bottle, pours a cloudy dark mahogany with a medium white head. Aroma is full of wine barrels, oxidation and wood. Flavour is about the same, with the wine barrels upfront, oak and oxidation,. Something seems slightly off here due to the oxidation, but it's certainly still quite nice.

BBE 06/12/17 - Pours dark reddish brown with a small head. Aroma of caramely malts, syrup, wood and berries. Taste is sweet, mildly hoppy and malty with some caramel, berries and hints of wheat. Finish is smooth, hoppy and grainy with notes of berries, syrup, berries and caramel. Not sure if I like this or not, quite dull actually.

37,5 cl bottle @ home, BBE 06.12.2017
Aroma is sweet with caramel, some harsh malt and raspberries. Flavour has strong woody notes, some harsh malt, caramel and sherry. Alcohol is present but does not disturb much. Quite easy-going. Wouldn’t call this a "very complex beer".

Bottle at Bruce’s Birthday batch @Craft Islington. Cheers Colin! It pours cloudy reddish-amber with a medium beige head. The nose is rich, piney, oily, dark fruits, earth, raisin, sultana, fig and candy. The taste is rich, oily, wood, varnish, resin, vinous, boozy, tannin, toast, fig and sugar. Full body, moderate carbonation and sticky mouth-feel. Solid hoppy barley wine, but not overly drinkable....

Bottle, Brew Dog.com. Quality label as ever from Mikkeller, who probably have the best looking bottles in the business. Dark amber pour with a fading beige head. Sweet and fruity nose with notes of barrel, booze and spice. Similar rich malty quite vinous flavour. Fullish body. Skillfully poised. Slamming collaboration by 2 great brewers.

Bottle, from BD Online, split at Bruce’s Birthday Bash, CBC Islington 07/02/14. Lightly hazed amber with a well appointed semi beige head. Nose carries a good boozey ring to it, dark stoned fruits, bitter orange, dark toffee, hint of liqourice. Taste comprises rich fruit cake, Ribena berry, caramel, raisens, oaky booze, candied sugar, fruit peel. Full bodied, fine carbonation, drying closure with a lick of warming alcohol. Decent barley wine but not top draw.
