Bearded Iris Brewing in Nashville, Tennessee, United States 🇺🇸

IPA - Imperial New England / Hazy Rotating
Score
6.93
ABV: 7.5% IBU: - Ticks: 3
Double IPA hopped with el dorado, amarillo, & mosaic and brewed with a touch of lactose.

A DIPA that amplifies the power of mosaic + el dorado + amarillo + citra + lactose into an excessive array of creamy orange-pineapple smoothie and lemon hard candy.

Tasting notes: el dorado, amarillo, mosaic, lactose

Nice IPA from BI. (DIPA seems like a stretch, but, hey, it's their beer. They can call it what they want. I mean, breweries are calling chocolate golden ales white stouts, for Christ's sake.) All the faves are on display: berry, mango, melon, and orange against a mild cracker base and a subtle but necessary lactose sweetness that brings out the marmalade and bubblegum character of the hops. Slight earthiness on the fade. Lactose eventually grows too strong, but the hops round down the edges. Tasty.

Draft at BIBCO. Pours a clearish yellow gold with a finger of foam that lingers, then dissipates. Honey on the nose with cantaloupe, honeydew and cotton candy aromas. Pine, cotton candy & light passion fruit notes on the palate. Thin & a tad boozy as it warms. The lactose isn't overpowering, but is present. Not bad, but not really up to Bearded Iris' standard.
