This velveteen Ryewine was aged for 15 months in WhistlePig The Boss Hog VIII: LapuLapu’s Pacific barrels. These beautifully crafted French oak casks were originally used to age single-island Philippine rum before finishing one of the most sought-after rye whiskeys in the world. Notes of dark sugar, spice, and oak intertwine with subtle expressions of tropical fruits and rich spirit.

Can thanks to Andrew. Pours a dark copper with small beige head that lasts. The aroma is wood, bourbon, vanilla, dark fruit. Slick body, toffee, bourbon, vanilla, wood, nice sweetness, enjoyed this.

December 2018 canning date, so I guess this one's 2019. Lots of it has mellowed out, but still plenty of boss hog notes on the finish, and the Armagnac notes are thicccc too. Gnarly good but body and upfront flavor definitely showing age.

Lost checkin from Wednesday, December 2022 so I guess it's the 2023 vintage, if not I'll sort it out later! Straight boss hog barrel notes, delish!

2023 draught at Publick House, 10/4/23. Cascading tan head steadily fades to nothing. Looks clear. Maroon tinted dark mahogany. Spicy rye whiskey, quite forward but quickly followed by raisin, toffee, cherry and vanilla. Not too sweet. Doesn't seem boozey at all. Soft, rich, warming, tons of spicy and lightly nutty rye. Rich vanilla, caramel, prune-laced toffee and light chocolate. Love the spiciness; it's about as spicy as they come for a barleywine. Texture is soft and comforting, gently syrupy. Sweet though not overly so. Wouldn't hate the texture/body being even fuller. Alcohol gets a bit much with some warming.

Sampled from the tap at GTMW 2023. Pours a clear dull amber with a light brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a nice rye with some barrel, toffee, sweet grains and caramel supporting. Flavor is similar with sweet grains, caramel and toffee supported by a rye bite.

Can shared with my bro. It pours deep/dark brown with a dissipating khaki head. The aroma is bitter - sweet, oily, unctuous, unani, salted caramel, nutty, walnut whip, woody, toffee crisp, fudge, brandy, booze soaked oak, spicy rye vibes, bourbon and light spice. The taste is slick, oily, unctuous, umami, bitter - sweet, toffee crisp, nutty, booze soaked oak, walnut whip, dried fruits, raisin, sultana, date, toasted buttered fruit cake, spicy rye warmth, bourbon, brandy, resinous, fatty, sticky and toothy with a slick, toffee finish. Fulsome body, fine carbonation and oily mouth feel. Quite a classy big BA number. Unctuous, oily and moreish.

Thinnish body, oily, sweet and boozy. Rich dark caramel, woody barrel, rye, really smooth but rich. Delicious.
