Big, but not huge, this American Chocolate Rye Stout fires off a lot of coffee and chocolate notes. Balances well, but rides high on hop character at 60 IBU’s while the Rye finishes it dry.
A specialty brew. Grab it when you see it. 7% ABV.

30.04.2014, tap @ Mikkeller Bar:
Nice creamy mediumlasting head. Aroma is slightly dry hoppy, dark malts, hops, burnt caramel, pine needles, hay, grass, leafs, rubber, coffee, chocolate. Taste is slightly dry and burnt, dark malts, burnt caramel, ashtray, hay, hops, paper, leafs, grass, bark, soil, rubber. Longlasting bitterness, dry mouthfeel. Not my cup of tea, more like a black IPA I’d say...

650 ml bottle I received in a Untappd trade. No bottling date. Thin white head on top this dark brown- borderline black liquid. Aroma is chocolate grain and roast forward with mild caramel candy.
Base of this stout has a solid pine hop backbone that gives a very nice balance to the roasted malt and chocolate flavors. Texture is dry with a mild pine kick. Body is nice, fuller with a borderline creamy mouthfeel. This is nicely constructed, well made.

On tap at Mikkeller Bar (Viktoriagade), shared with Skinnyviking. Patchy surface to a coal black body. Lacing rings down the glassware. Roasted smell of dark malts together with dark fruits. Cocoa-fruity taste, ashy dry. Roasted malt bitter ending. Well bodied. Like it (Copenhagen 30.04.2014).
