Coffee, milk chocolate malt, and hay aroma. Black with large brown head. Moderately sweet latte, milk chocolate, and mildly bitter dry hay flavor. Great body and balance. Excellent.

Sampled on draft at 3 RIvers this beer poured a black color with a medium sized foamy beige head that left good lacing. The aroma was roasty with cocoa, coffee and wood. The flavor was roasty and lightly bitter with cocoa, coffee and wood. Medium length finish. Medium body.

Rare can from market district. Big black pour. Somewhat chocolatey metallic and mild malt nose. Difficult coffee medicine first palate impressions. Not as civilized as was hoping. What is it with these common average coffee beers, anyway?

12 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 11/29/2018. Pours lightly cloudy nearly opaque dark brown/black color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky light khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of nutty medium roast coffee, milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, cream, and toasted dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of molasses, licorice, dark fruit, smoke, char, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. A bit too fruity/yeasty aromas, but not overwhelming. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt, coffee, lactose, light fruity yeast/earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of big nutty medium roast coffee, milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, cream, and toasted dark/brown bread; with light notes molasses, licorice, dark fruit, smoke, char, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Light Light herbal, floral, grassy hop; and roast, char, coffee bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of nutty medium roast coffee, milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, cream, toasted dark/brown bread, light dark fruit/smoke/char, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, coffee, lactose, light fruity yeast/earthy hop flavors; with a nice roast/hop bitter/sweet balance, and no cloying/arid flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering hop/roast bitterness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky/bready, and lightly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is great. No warming alcohol for 6%. Overall this is a delicious coffee milk stout! All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, coffee, lactose, light fruity yeast/earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the mildly bitter/drying finish. Very rich for the ABV. Great balance between rich malts, lactose, and fruity/nutty coffee complexity; with mild fruity yeast and earthy hops against sweetness. A very enjoyable offering, and impressive spot on style example as expected.

Can from J's. Pours a clear, dark chestnut brown with a finger of beige head that dissipates. Milk chocolate forward nose with some light cold brew coffee notes. Cacao, cream and mild date notes as it warms. Creamy on the palate with a Vietnamese coffee texture and flavor as it warms. Sweet, but not overly so. The coffee cuts some of lactose sweetness. Smooth finish with some more milk chocolate and light cacao and coffee bitterness. Very balanced and very good.
