Outsider Shroom Porter 6.5% On tap at Beer Belly Brewpub. Looks like the brew gear has arrived and they will start brewing around the end of March starting with a House Ale. A cola brown with a doughy malty sweet chocolate aroma - it reminds me of many other J-craft porters but that’s not a bad thing. Wow, the texture really surprised me. This is thick and syrupy. A big chewy full mouthfeel. The taste is nutty, fudge, chocolate syrup, and molasses bread. The aroma really undersold the fullness of this, a meal in a glass.

Tap at CBM Koenji. Deep, chestnut brown with a creamy mushroom beige head that lingers. Smokey bacon nose with some dark chocolate, soy sauce and katsuo in the nose. Light bodied on the palate and hides the abv masterfully. More smoke and umami with some light shiitake notes as it warms. Earthy, smokey, umami-laden porter.
