We start with a smooth, dark, rich and roasty porter then we add Columbian Cauca Cajibio Estate coffee supplied by our local friends at Maps Coffee Roasters to create an eye-opening marriage of our two favorite brewed beverages.

Bottle at Sedona Taphouse, 3/29/16. Clear dark brown, thin creamy tan head, good retention. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, roasted malts, caramel, vanilla. The taste is dry roasted malts, coffee, caramel, mild vanilla. Medium bodied, well balanced.

12oz bottle. These bottles did not come to Seattle. I spotted the keg once but the price was pretty high. I figured I would eventually find it when traveling. Well, that moment came when I visited Stateline Liquors. Unfortunately, its a bit of an old bottle, BB 4/21/16 - a day after my bday. Meh, whatever. Dark brown color, medium sized, average duration head. The coffee is the main character but it isn’t over-the-top. The downside is I get a mild pepper character off the coffee, not super strong but there. Not sure if that might be a byproduct of the age but I doubt it. If they called this a coffee-jalapeno beer I would have loved it. A dry, roast coffee finish.

Bottle. Better Beer Of The Month Club. Black-colored with a big tan head. Nice aroma of coffee beans (slightly "green"), roastiness, some cocoa/chocolate. Bittersweet flavor with lots of coffee, roastiness, and some dark chocolate. Medium-bodied, quite rounded. Very nice.

From a 12 bottle. Pours a clear cola brown with an ecru head. Burnt coffee aroma. Flavors of espresso and leather. Smooth roast finish.

12oz bottle. Opaque black brown body, respectable enough off-white/beie head. Pretty solid, well brewed, not overbearing. Straightforward, well executed. Medium bodied. Good.

Sampled on draft this beer poured a very dark brown color with orange highlights and a small foamy white head that left no lacing. The aroma was brewed coffee with hints of vanilla and wood. The flavor was brewed coffee, vanilla, wood and was a bit astringent. Medium length finish. Medium body. Disappointing.

Very good. Aroma is toasty, roasty, and slightly misleading as flavor is a bit lighter and sweeter. Taste also has a hint of vanilla, coffee is natural, clean, fresh, and without off-flavors; Body is on the lighter side. Overall a pretty good drinking brew.

On tap at the Taphouse. Pours black with a light brown head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma combines rich coffee and sweet dark grains with a bit of roasted malt underlying. Flavor has lots of coffee supported by roasted makes and a bit of dark grains.
