Funky like an 80's gold chain, this IPA was fermented with Bootleg Biology's "Funk Weapon" Brettanomyces and our house ale yeasts. Combined, they create hints of ripe mango, pineapple and a smack of funk. The first of our small batch series has all the wild flavors you've been looking for in a very "crushable" beer....can. We hope you enjoy it!

Surprisingly good brett IPA, striking a nice balance between hops and horseblanket. Apricot, mango, and grapefruit present a juicy, sweet-natured hop front, while the finish grows piney and Belgian, with the tiniest bit of citric tartness rounded off by a healthy dose of funk. Fades spicy and clean. Pours a lovely gold with a thick white head and ample lacing. Nose is a bit of a letdown--no funk, no hops--but the light, boisterous feel and creamy texture make up for the aroma. Tasty pint.

Can from Craft Brewed. Pours a pretty copper with a finger of beige head that lingers. Dried apricot, pineapple, horseblanket, grass and caramel in the nose. Balanced with some funky yogurt-like creaminess, and peppery dryness. Good carbonation, high drinkability. Very Belgian-like. Really nice effort from Honky Tonk. --- Beer merged from original tick of Funk Weapon Brett IPA on 17 Jan 2018 at 10:22 - Score: 7. Original review text: Tropical Brett aromas, some horseblanket, earthy aromas. Fermented strawberry, toasted malt, highly drinkable.nice drop!
