Just like its namesake, this brown American Strong Ale has some bite. Brewed with Tennessee Sorghum from Muddy Pond Sorghum Mill, the Recluse has a complex sweetness, notes of grassy molasses, crème brûlée and toffee. It’s the perfect treat.

Light amber-brown. Strong, alcohol and toasty, sweet, complex malt character. Good.

Draft at the source. Pours clear amber with a light beige head. Malty aroma. Taste is caramel, molasses, brown bread, alcohol. Finish is sweet.

Draft at the source. Pours a deep copper/amber color with a small beige head that lingers. Lots of resinous, bitter pine in the nose....twigs, roasted toffee aromas. Sticks & earth on the palate, roasted caramel and deep sorghum notes. Finish is aggressively bitter, I assume to balance out the sweetness. Not really my cup of tea. --- Beer merged from original tick of Beerded Recluse on 13 Jan 2018 at 20:57 - Score: 6. Some citrus and lots of malt. Tons pf caramel like Charley and the chocolate factory. Syrupy texture. Orange pour with decent head. Tangy sweet finish. Lots of booze. Tap at brewery.
