Got in a BIF from KMitch. 12 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 9/25/2018. Pours slightly hazy deep golden/orange/amber color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy cream colored head with awesome retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice dense soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, melon, citrus peel/rind, wood, peppercorn, pine, cracker, spicy rye, toasted biscuit, light caramel/nuttiness, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/fruity/earthy hops and rye/bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, melon, citrus peel/rind, wood, peppercorn, pine, cracker, spicy rye, toasted biscuit, light caramel/nuttiness, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness; and rye spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, melon, citrus peel/rind, wood, peppercorn, pine, cracker, spicy rye, toasted biscuit, light caramel/nuttiness, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/earthy hops and rye/bready malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness and rye spiciness balance; with no astringent flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering bitterness and rye spiciness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/sticky, and fairly crisp/resinous/rindy balanced mouthfeel that is great. Minimal warming alcohol for 7.4%. Overall this is an excellent rye IPA. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/earthy hops and rye/bready malt flavors; very smooth, easy, and fairly crisp to drink with the modestly bitter/spicy/resinous/drying finish, not overly aggressive. Great classic Columbus/Mt Hood profile. Balanced juicy, dank, and earthy hop complexity; great rye/bready malt backbone, mild residual sweetness with lingering dryness. A very enjoyable offering, and well made style example.

Pretty good rye IPA, hop-forward and resinous yet housing a hearty malt backbone and plenty of spicy rye on the back end. Starts with a swath of toffee and tobacco from the malts, then quickly develops a citric undercurrent laced with apricot and bread. The finish is a mix of clingy, bitter pine and rye, with a oily hop fade that refuses to relent. Pours a gorgeous slightly hazed orange with a voluminous eggshell head and tons of lacing. Aroma lacks punch, mostly caramel malt with hints of rye. Good texture, oily with a lovely rye tickle. Not a bad pint.

Draft at Craft Brewed. Pours a clear copper with a finger of foam that lingers. Toasty caramel malt, light muscat. Malty on the palate. More toffee, pine. Crisp and clean, kinda heavy. Piney, bitter finish. Not really a fan of this one. --- Beer merged from original tick of Mumbai Rye on 06 Oct 2017 at 21:29 - Score: 7. Original review text: Toasty caramel malt, light muscat. On tap at the Hopspitality Brewfest. Pours a slightly hazy orange. The aroma is grassy and pine hops, with some caramel and rye malts. The flavor is very bitter, with only a little balance. The palate is medium to heavy and sticky. Overall, a pretty good IPA, but the rye doesn’t come through very strong.
