Tropical Stout
This tropical stout is a spin on the more traditional Foreign Extra Stout. Eighty pounds of Macerated Dates made its way into this brew, partnered with a Dry English Ale yeast to provide a vibrant fruity/tropical aroma with a slight amount of fruity esters. The Dry English ale yeast helps this beer attenuate lower, however leaving a residual sweetness on the finish as well as increase the fruity characteristic received from the Dates. Dead Blow is a dry, roasty, fruity, full bodied, smooth stout, that is lighter on bitterness.

Black with a thin head. Dry roast coffee, light cocoa, some sweetness, I picked up some dates in the aroma but missed it in the flavor. Medium bodied. Solid.

Sample at the taproom for Cincinnati Beer Week on 06/23/2017. The beer is a nearly black color with dark brown around the edges and a medium thin khaki head that dissipates steadily to a film. Small patches of lacing. Aroma of chocolate, dark fruit and malt. Medium body with flavors of dark chocolate, charred malt and tangy fruit. The finish is semi-sweet and malty. Decent overall.

Can from Val-U. Pours a deep brown with a small head that lingers then dissipates. Currant-forward nose with some light cacao and berry. Light and enjoyable. Simple stout, but abv hidden masterfully.
