This Belgian table bier is a traditional entry into the Session category. It is meant to be consumed with food but also stands well on its own. When you need to drink the whole meal and want something with plenty of flavor but don’t want to get shit-twisted from the alcohol, this is a great choice. Look for a smooth malty body with hints of biscuit and rye. The hops are subdued and mostly present as a bittering agent. The yeast plays a prominent role increating bready and lightly fruity notes.

Can. Lactic barley malt aroma. Golden yellow with moderate off-white head. Light milky barley malt and straw flavor. Watery palate. Nothing unpleasant, just extremely light - would expect the ABV to be much lower than 4.9% - at 3% this might have been acceptable. A rare disappointment from AtG.

Purchased at Bottles and Cans in Chicago, IL; enjoyed at home on a cool late August Thursday night. I’m not really a fan of this one, need to try others from this brewery. This is a good \"table\" beer I guess, but there’s nothing special about it, not that flavorful, nothing to write home about. Just meh.

First smell and taste and there was nothing remotely close to anything Belgian, so this was re-poured into a pint glass.
The appearance was a hazy bronzed to burnt orange color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated at a decent pace. Lacing was semi-stringy and foamy.
The smell had some sweet corn, a light caramel malty sweetness and then a subtle grassiness running in and out.
The taste was moderately sweet through the grassiness and corn.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with an okay sessionability about it. Carbonation runs fine for the American Blonde ale style and for me.
Overall, nice try Against the Grain, but its not a Belgian ale, guys. I still liked it for what it was.

16 ounce can into tulip glass; no can dating, but is a recent release. Pours lightly hazy orange/amber color with a 2 finger fairly dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of apricot, pear, apple, white grape, light banana, pepper, clove, spicy rye, toasted biscuit, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast and bready malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of big apricot, pear, apple, white grape, light banana, pepper, clove, spicy rye, toasted biscuit, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Fair amount of herbal bitterness/yeast spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of apricot, pear, apple, grape, light banana, pepper, clove, rye, toasted biscuit, and herbal/yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice robustness, complexity, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast and bready malt flavors; with a great malt/yeast/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, fairly creamy/bready, and slightly sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming present after the finish as expected of 4.9%. Overall this is a very nice Belgian pale ale style. All around good robustness, complexity, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast and bready malt flavors; and very smooth and easy to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

16 oz. can purchased at 7-11, Kittery, ME. I did not drink this from the can as the label suggests. Color is an off Amber with slow cascading head. Aroma is very weak, light Belgian yeast, weak grain.
The flavor is as mild as the aroma, cereal grain, yeasty finish in a very light body. Carbonation level is high with a tingle over the palate. It feels like this brew strives to be mediocre. I fooled myself into buying another beer from this brewer, shame on me.
