--- Beer merged from original tick of Leffe Bire d'Hiver / Winterbier on 17 May 2018 at 11:37 - Score: 6

The Christmas Leffe, initially only exported to France but since 2008 available on the Belgian market as well. Thick, regular, pale yellowish foam, bronze colour with orange hue, clear with calm sparkling. Caramel malt sweetness in the nose, honey, liquorice, orange peel, brandy, brown sugar, raisins, cinnamon, bread, pear, nuts, cooked vegetables. Honeyish and fruity onset with mild spicy accents, strong liquorice, slick caramelly and slightly nutty malt base, thin body but still overcarbonated for this style of beer (artificially, of course), streamlined palate, clearly pasteurized taste, soft toasted bitterness in the end with vague floral hops, cloying sweetness and warming alcohol. Well, I guess for a Leffe, this is not even that bad, just ’cooked’, dead and cliché.

Geschmack leicht hefig, fruchtig malzig, Gewürze, blumig.
