Draught at Canary Square, 6/19/17.
Copper-bronze body has a good clarity and a beige head atop showing moderate retention.
Good mix of esters and phenols here, displaying little/no Americanization. No citrusy/IPA-oriented hop notes and no banana/bubble gum/clove, etc...What it does have is a good amount of earthiness, light bread and nuttiness from the specialty malts and rye, with pleasant yellow and red fruit-like esters. Low on the spiciness/pepper notes and some light cereal on the finish. Clean and no alcohol. I gave this stuff quite a while to breath/warm and it impressed me, for the most part. Good attenuation it seems and all of the "right" esters with none of the bad.
Dry and with a good malt depth to the texture, mostly engaging carbonation and lots of biscuit and cereal character. It still retains a fairly crisp finish highlighted by light white pepper and a touch of lemon. Plentiful esters keep it fruity and there’s tons of Sacch-like acidity (which is quite mild, but still helps balance the malt). Light to moderate bitterness. Quite nutty and cerealic, maybe just a touch too much so, but other than that, this is a very well-done saison that actually bears quite a bit of resemblance to a traditional saison.

Draft. Golden body. Frothy white head. Aroma of clove, spice, toasted grain, plastic. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, syrupy texture, lively carbonation. Nothing delicate about this beer. Overly spiced. Goopy, medicine-like mouthfeel. Yuck.
