A big, bold and hoppy American style Barley-wine. this very full-bodied deep reddish hued brew has a rich malt backbone supported by the bold hop flavors of the American grown hop varietal Citra. This strong beer was brewed in December 2010 for its debut in 2011 and will age nicely. We plan on putting some of this beer away to allow the flavors to complex with age.

Tap. Pours clear red-amber with a small off-white head that dissipates with decent lacing. Aroma is light grapefruit and pine. Flavor is the same, plus caramel. Light-plus sweet, light bitterness increasing to the finish. Light body.

On draft at the brewpub. Pours a clear amber with an off white head. Aroma of toasted malt. A bit of a raw alcohol taste but still smooth with notes if caramel and a hop kick. Bitter finish.

Served on draft at the brewpub on 5/7/11. 500th Virginia rating! Pours a slightly hazy copper color with a large creamy tan head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma of brown sugar, toffee, citrus, dates and raisins. The taste is brown sugar, raisins, plums, citrus, toffee and a bit of a burnt note. Full bodied. Well balanced Some lingering bitterness. Damn good beer.

Draft at brewpub. Poured a brown color with a tiny off-white head. Aroma was caramel malts, with notes of hops and a touch of yeast character I suppose. Heavy caramel, dried fruits, touch of hops. Very tasty.
