Taster at the Escondido location. Pours black, with a huge, rocky, beige head. The nose is mocha, dusty cinnamon, chicory, and pine sap. Dry and musty, with a mellow, burnt bitterness. Heavy, dusty, and thick. Harsh and abrasive, yet somehow delicious.

On tap at Stone Brewing Liberty Station in San Diego. Opaque black pour. Creamy tan head. Roasted malt aroma hints at molasses. Earthy, roasted malt flavor is sweet and smoky. Notes of molasses and licorice are subtle. Nice creamy mouthfeel. Well done.

On tap at Stone Escondido, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out light cinnamon, medium roast, and cocoa. Flavour brings out medium roast, with an oat-like and dry cocoa-y mouthfeel. Nicely constructed, with everything in proper balance. Very good.

Tap at the Liberty Station venue. Pours very dark brown with a tan head. Aroma of chocolate with some kind of spice - cinnamon? Full bodied. Flavor is dark chocolate, dark malt and something towards cinnamon - but not quite. It’s very earthy. Very dry. Moderately bitter. Great taste.
